Fiver Scarf

Simple enough to please most gentlemen, using only knits and purls, the Fiver Scarf is a wonderful project for beginners.

Materials:
2 skeins of Lion Brand "Jiffy" yarn in Dark Grey Heather (or another Bulky weight yarn)
US size 10 1/2 (6.5mm) needles
Yarn/Tapestry needle
Row counter (optional)

Gauge:
Swatch of pattern (25 stitches and 10 rows) should be approximately 6 1/4" wide and 2 1/4" long (still, since it's a scarf, gauge isn't critical).  What's more important is that you like the width and length.

Directions:
Using a long tailed Cast-on,  CO 25 sts.

Work in pattern as follows:
Rows 1,3,5,6,8,10:  k5, p5, k5, p5, k5.
Rows 2,4,7,9: p5, k5, p5, k5, p5.

Repeat these 10 rows until scarf measures approximately 58 1/5" (ending with row 5 or 10).  Bind off in the following pattern:  k5, p5, k5, p5, k5.   Cut yarn leaving 6" tail.  Weave in ends, and present to loved one.

*pattern updated (FINALLY! -eesh!  what takes me so long?) on 12/26/13... sorry folks!

Are you sure the pattern in the first section has 10 purls stitches at the end?

I'm sorry if there's any confusion. There are only two variations of rows you'll be using; either k5,p5,k5,p5,k5 or p5,k5,p5,k5,p5. However the row number may be confusing. It's a little longer, but hopefully more clear:

Row 1: k5,p5,k5,p5,k5
Row 2: p5,k5,p5,k5,p5
Row 3: k5,p5,k5,p5,k5
Row 4: p5,k5,p5,k5,p5
Row 5: k5,p5,k5,p5,k5
Row 6: k5,p5,k5,p5,k5
Row 7: p5,k5,p5,k5,p5
Row 8: k5,p5,k5,p5,k5
Row 9: p5,k5,p5,k5,p5
Row 10: k5,p5,k5,p5,k5

When you want to bind off your scarf, end with row 5 or row 10.

Your pattern wasn't confussing at all, it's very simple yet pretty. What the other poster caught that I caught also was you had written row 1 incorrectly. You wrote at the end of the row....P5,P5
